The drain covers violate the mandatory safety standard under the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA) because they do not bear the required product markings, posing entrapment and drowning hazards. The drain covers also violate the safety requirements by not stating the service life of the covers, installation instructions and maintenance instructions.
Consumer Action:
CPSC urges consumers to remove, replace and dispose of the drain covers immediately and stop using pools with the drain covers until the covers have been replaced. Do not sell or give away these hazardous products. Ensure all pools and spas have VGBA-compliant drain covers and teach children to stay away from drains.
